Values
Curiosity
I view research as an intentional practice driven by curiosity. We all possess the innate ability to ask, learn, and think. I believe everyone is a researcher—whether they know it or not. By working closely with communities to co-create relevant, timely, and meaningful questions, I try to nurture a more respectful, collaborative, and curiosity-driven practice.
Empathy
I strive to have empathy for others and myself. Being compassionate with ourselves allows us to gain the capacity to be kind to others, and by nurturing reciprocal relationships with others, we build community. Only communities have the ability to face challenges that seem insurmountable. In my work, I try to leave seeds of kindness behind.
Courage
To be courageous means to embrace uncertainty in a world obsessed with knowing (or pretending to know). I believe that we can’t afford to confuse our desire to understand with our desire to gain certainty. Therefore, I try to greet messy narratives with open arms and make sense of the realities of our increasingly complex world by letting go.
Health
The health of our planet relies on the health of our societies, institutions, and people. In our lifetime, we may never fully eliminate human and planetary suffering, but we can definitely reduce it. I believe that making peace with the world and with ourselves can lead to healthier outcomes. As such, I do my best to explore what it means to heal.
